Travel Shaving: What to Pack and How to Fly With a Razor
Value · June 12, 2026 · 4 min read
Cartridge razors travel easily in the United States. Loose double-edge blades do not. Everything else is about protecting the edge and fitting liquid rules.
What flies
Cartridge and disposable razors are generally allowed in carry-on baggage; loose double-edge blades belong in checked luggage. Rules can change, so check current TSA guidance before your flight.
Protect the blade
Cap the cartridge or use a hard travel case. A razor loose in a toiletry bag arrives dull and nicks you on the first night.
Liquids and hotel showers
A travel-size gel under the liquids limit, or hair conditioner from the hotel as a substitute. Hotel showers heat quickly — use that for your water prep.
Pack a spare refill
One spare cartridge weighs nothing and beats buying whatever the hotel gift shop stocks at four times the price.
The bottom line
Cartridges carry on, loose blades check in, cap the head, bring one spare.
