How to Shave Your Arms (and Whether You Should)
Technique · May 29, 2026 · 4 min read
Arms are easy terrain apart from the elbow. The main thing to know before you start is that forearm regrowth feels noticeable because the hair is fine — a blunt-cut fine hair is more obvious than you expect.
Direction and elbows
Arm hair generally grows downward toward the wrist. Shave with it. For the elbow, bend the arm fully to flatten the skin and use short strokes across it.
Lather and light pressure
Same rules as legs: warm water, real lather, one pass, light pressure. Fine hair cuts easily; there is no reason to press.
Set expectations about regrowth
You will feel stubble within a couple of days, and maintenance will be ongoing. If that does not appeal, arms are an area many people simply leave alone — that is a preference, not a rule.
The bottom line
Shave downward with lather and light pressure, bend the elbow flat, and expect regular upkeep.
