Travel Shaving Kit: What to Pack and What TSA Allows
Value · June 11, 2026 · 5 min read
Cartridge razors are the easy travel option in the United States. Loose double-edge blades are the problem. Beyond that, packing is about protecting the edge and keeping liquids compliant.
Cartridges vs loose blades
Cartridge and disposable razors are generally permitted in carry-on baggage. Loose double-edge and straight-razor blades belong in checked luggage. Rules can change, so check the current TSA guidance before you fly.
Protect the edge in your bag
Use the plastic cap the cartridge shipped with, or a hard travel case. A cartridge rattling loose against a dopp kit is a cartridge you will not enjoy on day one of the trip.
Liquids and hotel water
Travel-size cream under the liquids limit, or a solid soap to skip the rule entirely. Hotel bathrooms run hot fast — use that for your water prep.
Pack one extra refill
One spare cartridge weighs nothing and saves you from buying an unfamiliar razor in an airport shop at triple the price.
The bottom line
Cartridges carry on, loose blades check in, cap the head, and pack one spare refill.
Fresh blades in 6, 12, 18 and 24 packs. Pause, skip or cancel online at any time.
